No matter how many roses bloom in June, no matter how many strawberries I get to snack on, I will never list June among my favorite months. In recent years, Supreme Court rulings on women’s rights, voting rights, immigration, and the rights of sovereign tribal communities have left such a sour taste in my mouth that no matter how many berries I eat, the bitterness remains. Happily I am not alone and cartoonist Jim Morin can me laugh. Share this for a chuckle, or at least a wry smile. Keep breathing.
Jim Morin, two-time Pulitzer winning political cartoonist, retired from the Miami Herald in 2020. While enjoying his retirement, Morin offered The Grassroots Connector several cartoons that remain relevant. Check out Morin’s best-selling book of cartoons from 40 years at the Herald.
Along with laughing, we might begin to consider a national day of mourning or even apology — SCOTUS-SHMOTUS day — as a reaction to the annual late-June outrages perpetrated by the Roberts court.
