“Effing” brilliant, Susan! Now all we need is a list of email addresses for those TV luminaries so we can all forward your message to them and make sure they get it over and over again.
I think you can reply to any of the Bulwark emails, if you get any of them, to send them the link to this piece. I think the most likely to get the message would be JVL, and he writes the Triad newsletter every weekday. I just sent the link to him using that approach. Let's good his inbox. He'll get the message over to Sarah Longwell if enough of us do it, I believe.
Excellent and much needed piece! Will be sharing on Bluesky (my only sm outlet), chat rooms and on Slack. Want to mention Robert Hubbell Today's Edition where every day, at the end of his substack (in which he praises the grassroots efforts), he features Protest Photos from across the country - Visibility Brigade groups, people standing in snow and freezing temperatures on street corners in cities and towns, people using walkers, people who are putting themselves out there every day to save our country. I often scroll down and look at the photos before I read his post because seeing people like me and you protesting to save democracy is a very positive way to start my day.
Thank you. This SO needed to be said! Typical pundit format: Line up 3 talking heads. Show a clip of Trump’s latest atrocity. Hold out the microphone to each talking head: “How outraged are you?” “How outraged are you?” “How outraged are you?” There’s TONS of positive things happening at the grassroots level they could focus on instead.
Brilliant, Susan, and here are two more examples. Brooks Berndt can discuss how the Climate Hope Affiliates fought Trump’s proposed 55% cut to the Environmental Protection Agency for 2026 and got a 3.5% cut instead, 16 times smaller than Trump’s proposal. Joanne Carter can show how RESULTS volunteers fought Trump’s proposed 91% cut to Maternal and Child Health globally, from $915 million in 2025 to $85 million in 2026 and got the full $915 million appropriated instead. Maternal and Child Health has helped drive a 66% decline in global child deaths over the last 40 years until Elon Musk came along.
THANK YOU! THAN K YOU! And I'd add a pet peeve that 80% of the people doing this work are women and white men are occupying 90% (or more) of the talking head space. Even if I agree with them, appreciate their insights, I'm sick of seeing yet another man explaining the world to me.
So honored to be included in this esteemed list of grassroots leaders. Thank you Susan for all you do to support and amplify the grassroots and to save our democracy. This article is important also because it shines the light on the larger context in which we work - and in doing so can powerfully reshape the national narrative.
Most excellent Susan - thank you! Jim Acosta is guilty of this and he is here on Substack. Perhaps there is a paid subscriber that can get this to him. When he started out in this new space he seemed open to change but I've noticed he's fallen into old habits. He has a big following so let's add him to this list. Many, many thanks for all you do.
Add Robert Hubbell to your list of people who focus on action.
Yes.Robert and I are on the same page.I discussed this article with him.
I just found your substack through Robert’s post
Same! Excellent article. Thank you, Susan Wagner!
Me too!
I as well! Thank you Susan- and thank you Robert!
Yes. And also Joe Katz from Rogan’s List.

Thanks, good idea but I’m not a paying Bulwark subscriber. Not The Contrarian either but maybe I can post it to Meidas.
I need those emails so I can send them our local grassroots effort news.
NH protesters blocked the ICE Concentration Camp planned for Merrimack.
A group in my town blocked local police from signing on to assist ICE.
And your story should be amplified as examples of what is happening around the country. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, Robert Hubbell and I have been discussing this topic for a long time. I appreciate you circulating the article.

Excellent post! Thank you!
And they should feature Jess Craven. She focuses on local action and good news about the pushback happening everywhere. What an American hero.

True. The list is endless. Please send around and maybe we can start to enlarge the platform. It is so necessary.
Excellent article. I do get tired of popular substackers interviewing each other.

Sure hope they read your post. You are so right.

Thank you. I’ve stopped listening to them all. It’s why I am a new fan to Laura Flanders and Friends - they highlight the people doing the work.
Support PBS, not YouTube!
Exactly. Great piece.
