At the moment, the priority has to be opposing fanatics and their fanatic agendas such as Project 2025. Beyond that, we need to address the systemic weaknesses in our democratic institutions by which we get representatives who don't represent us. Many of these weaknesses are deliberate strategies, such as gerrymandered voting districts, voter suppression, and election. Voter fraud was never a thing, but election fraud is a big deal and getting bigger (see Texas Republicans' plans to gerrymander themselves five more Republican members of Congress). We need to get behind urgently needed electoral reforms, such as ranked-choice voting, independent nonpartisan committees to set voting district boundaries, and voter rights legislation.
