I am so curious to hear how the audience responded to each other's questions. Were there hoots and applause or was the response quiet nods or something else? If it was applause, id that slow things down and cut into speaking time?

Exactly! There was frequent applause, and towards the end our moderators asked people not to so we could squeeze in more of people's questions.

I’m so pleased and proud that you guys were able to do this and it was successful. We did the same thing here in South Jersey in 2016 when Trump first was elected. Congressman MacArthur (rep) refused to hold a Townhall and we held it without him and we did have a huge auditorium filled with people with questions. That was the beginning of indivisible. Love this group good luck in the future. We have lots of power with the people.

An amazing and effective undertaking. Thank you for sharing We have some "schmucks" in elected offices in Iowa also. :-(

Great job Charlottesville. How does a schmuck like this MIA douche bag manage to get elected?

The incombent MAGA (high-profile Bob Good, then the Chair of the Freedom Caucus and solidly popular in this conservative and gerrymandered district) made the fatal error of endorsing Ron DeSantis over Trump early in the Republican presidential primary season, and then McGuire primaried him for not being 110% loyal to Trump. McGuire beat Good in the primary and then defeated Democrat Gloria Witt in the general (57%-43% I think).

Dont the kids at UVA vote?

Dan Doernberg's avatar

Not all do, of course... but also many students are out-of-state and can be registered to vote in their home states.
