“Imagine that, a politic that involves and centers our shared humanity and complex experiences, then moves to work together on policies that could serve all of us, together.” Exactly what these times need. Forward Together.
When I ran for state senate in PA in 1990, I learned - upon losing a primary - that of course MOST people who run lose, counting primaries. That there's no dishonor in losing well and people will respond to your trying again. I hope you're actively considering it. Remember Robert the Bruce! (if you don't know your Scottish history, check it out.)
Thank you for this beautiful essay. I hope the author will run again, and/or equally as important, become a guide for the new generation of candidates.
I really appreciate your hard work and bridge-building. There is no doubt in my mind that for some of the people you met and spoke with, even though they didn't change their vote this time, you may have planted a little seed. You showed them that Democrats can be real, kind people. Some of them will be horrified by something Trump does, and who knows what their tipping point will be?
I wonder whether you think running as an Independent would be a stronger or weaker position than running as a Democrat in an area like yours.
I followed your journey, Emily, and voted for you in hopes that you would win. Thank you for not losing hope in the democracy that’s dissolving in front of our eyes. Beautifully written article. Thank you for sharing. 🥰
I am also a teacher and I see the microcosim that is American society in my school everyday. I would love to help you out and get you into a place that can help all our students and their families. PM if you are interested.

What a great article that shows us the possibilities of democracy when done well. Thank you.
Thank you!
