In the 1940's we came so close to building on these Four Freedoms and FDR's 2nd Bill of Rights. The Democratic Party started giving up its' (then) practicable ideals with FDR's illness, the rejection of Henry Wallace and the ascension of Truman. And it's terrible defeats in the midterms under Truman only had the Party double down on mediocrity and bowing to anti-New Deal forces. It has been thus ever since. But I see hope in young leaders like AOC, Wes Moore and Bernie's still powerful voice.
