I was the editor on the piece. Son of an English teacher, I changed it to "whom." Merle deftly explained why she preferred "who" and those who jumped on that "mistake" alone did not read the article carefully. The more important point is -- let's get ONE mantra, just like MAGA has. Instead of 3,000 clever signs.
I recently had hats and shirts made for my family. … MADA
MAKE AMERICA a DEMOCRACY AGAIN. After being asked by several protesters from events about the MADA gear I approached the local LWV where I am on the BOD, and we were able to copartner with a local small business in creating an on line webstore , where all Democracy Defenders can order merch at a non profit price. The merch does not have the LWV LOGO so as to appeal to anyone who wants to DRESS FOR DEMOCRACY. It’s selling!!
This slogan implies that question and has several other advantages: It directly confronts Trump's "Make America Great Again" message; it is also asking who is being made better, which points to the corruption and self-interest of many of the actions; and, it doesn't recycle a Republican talking point.
Sorry but this idea sucks. It's bad grammar. MAGA would have a ready answer. It shows no vision for a great country. It is defensive. It is not forward looking. Go back to the drawing board.

Good idea!
To those who immediately thought 'whom' (as I did) -- read the entire article.
Lol! Yes, this retired English teacher did exacly that, but I agree that "whom" loses a bit of the impact.

Ho about the old Rep slogan: "Are you better off now?"

Thank you. This is exactly the kind of thinking we need right now. I’m gonna use the slogan on my sign.
Love the idea - let's hope it gains traction. Thank you, Merle!
For *WHOM*.
