Know what? I think we've got something going that is better than billboards. And that is the growing number of PEOPLE who gather in visible places on a regular basis with signs. The most effective seem to be those that spread out a little and not in a tight clump, so their signs can be easily read. Keep the message simple, and interact with passersby in cars or on foot in simple, friendly ways. Drivers slow down to see, and sometimes honk. Small demonstrations seem to be becoming a "thing" nationally. Beats a quick glance at an impersonal billboard.
That's a great idea. And it costs almost nothing, just a few bucks for supplies.
I'd encourage everyone to use as many different ways of communicating as possible. People tend to believe what they have heard from many different sources. That's one of the most important reasons the Right-Wing Propaganda Machine is so effective. People hear the MAGA line on tv, on social media, from podcasters, and from friends, family and co-workers.
It would be great if we can do a similar thing, in our own way. People with signs, billboards, radio ads, leaflets, canvassing, social media posts, tv ads, town halls, press conferences, talking to friends, family and co-workers, can all help fight Medicaid cuts and undermine MAGA and the right-wing propaganda machine.
I live in a purple congressional district represented by a Republican who barely won the last election, and who was one of six signing a letter expressing concern about Medicaid cuts. Yet, he voted for the budget concept that will lead to them. I question whether protests at his local office will have an effect, and he is not conducting townhall meetings. His campaign was largely funded by local businessmen who support tax cuts. Some of their businesses are retail, such as car dealers and hotel owners. Maybe a way of putting pressure on our congressman to oppose Medicaid cuts is to demonstrate in front of the businesses of his supporters, causing them to lose money. They might then see the need to pressure our congressman to oppose Medicaid cuts.

Hi, Hal,
That's an interesting idea. I haven't heard anyone trying that. What Congressman are you trying to influence?
