Great list. I also read Jay Kuo's Substack "The Status Kuo" if you're looking to add to the list.

From a reader: acknowledge that some legacy media get it right. Like THE NEW YORKER, THE ATLANTIC, THE NEW REPUBLIC, POLITICO, EVEN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL WITH A CAVEAT ABOUT THE EDITORIAL PAGE.]

Wired has become an invaluable resource for breaking news on DOGE shenanigans and was one of the first to expose what’s going on.

Don't forget the state houses! The States Newsroom has excellent statehouse reporting for each state, often long-time reporters whose work was lost as we lost local coverage. I follow the Missouri and Minnesota "papers", and the reporting is excellent. Free, but donation-supported. https://statesnewsroom.com/

I've made a comprehensive list of fact-based media (as comprehensive as I can make it). And I've included the smaller independent creators. https://www.freedomoverfascism.us/p/i-promised-you-id-send-you-my-list

Jim Acosta quit CNN and started his own substack - a mix of news, articles and interviews - recommended!

Great list overall including some I didn't know.

I second the recommendation of States Newsrooms.

I would replace Courier with States Newsrooms. Courier does some good reporting but their claim to editorial independence is questionable, at best.

States is more comprehensive, employs many more journalists and while it leans progressive, it is independent.

Yep, FB still blocking. Tried today. And YES, I provided my “feedback” to them and did a screen shot with the URL and the block and shared that to my FB page.

Please consider an additional category: independent sources for state and local journalism. Readers in different localities can point to reliable sources. I am here to recommend The Washington Observer: https://washingtonobserver.substack.com/ for in depth coverage of Washington state politics.

Please include fair.org. I don't know why they get left out of lists like this, but they really shine a light on media BS. I've been supporting them for decades now and they really provide an excellent service.
