There is some evidence to suggest that the MSM outlets, like children who act out, are just manipulating us into paying attention (clicks), even if it is negative. While collecting these headlines is amusing, does it influence the number of clicks in anyway? How can we accomplish that?

I worry every time I click on a headline with Trump's name in it. I agree--it feeds the cycle of free publicity and guarantees we'll get more such headlines. Most of the time I suspect we would be better of with less of Trump in the headlines, not more. I like this question as a topic for a Network NOVA Power Lunch presenter and discussion. Do we flood the comments with suggestions and questions: Where is the article on [whatever topic we want to see]? Another week and no in-depth reporting on [whatever topic we want to see].

A follow up question is: is it worth it? Will we know ourselves out for a barely perceptible change? Is a better way to go to build support for responsible journalism we see in local newspapers? Is another effective tactic to try to amplify reporting we see as responsible by clicking and sharing a lot? Among us, do we have someone who knows Brooke Gladstone or Rachel Maddow or someone else who might be really knowledgeable on this topic?
